Questions and answers

DJs & live music

A DJ and a silent disco are not alternatives — most weddings that use both get the best evening. Here is how they fit together.

Can our existing wedding DJ run one of the silent disco channels?

Yes, if the DJ agrees and their equipment can connect to the transmitter. The other channels can come from additional devices or DJs.

Can we run normal speakers and silent disco at the same time?

Technically it may be possible, but it can defeat the noise-control benefit and may create a confusing experience. The venue's sound rules should determine whether speakers can be used alongside headphones.

Can a live band feed into silent disco headphones?

Potentially, if the band's sound system can provide a suitable mixed audio output to a transmitter. This requires advance planning with the band's sound engineer and the silent disco supplier.

Can the DJ talk to guests through the headphones?

If the DJ's microphone is routed through the same mixer output feeding a transmitter, announcements can potentially be heard on that channel.
