The neighbour problem
Sound travels much further across open Devon countryside and water than couples expect, which is why marquee licences and coastal venues cap music early. Headphones produce nothing audible beyond the guest wearing them, so the restriction stops applying.
Wind, distance and outdoor audio
Outdoors there are no walls to reflect sound, so speakers need to be loud to reach the back of a dancefloor, and a breeze pulls the mix apart anyway. Headphone audio is unaffected by either.
Practicalities in a field
The kit needs to stay dry and needs one power source — a generator is fine. Keep the charging cases somewhere covered, and plan a sheltered spot for the handout table if rain is likely.
