Making A Silent Disco Work For Every Guest
The format wins over sceptics quickly, but only if the practical details are handled. Most of the failures are logistical, not musical.
Mixed age groups are the advantage, not the problem
Without room volume, guests who aren't dancing can hold a conversation at a table beside the dance floor instead of retreating to a corridor. Grandparents stay in the room. That single change is the most common piece of feedback couples pass on.
Children and volume sensitivity
Individual volume control makes this format far kinder than a speaker rig for children and anyone sensitive to loud sound. Keep a few sets adjusted to a smaller fit, and show children the channel button once — they will teach each other.
The handout table
Put it where guests already walk — beside the bar or the dance floor entrance — and give one person responsibility for it. Have a small sign with the channel colours. Collect headphones back into cases as guests leave rather than at the very end.
